Welcome to the website of Reederei Erwin Strahlmann e.K. !
Reederei Erwin Strahlmann e.K. was founded by Erwin Strahlmann in 1988. He started by taking care of commercial shipping matters for a number of close Captain-Owners.
Later on Mr. Strahlmann became unlimited partner of those Owners and took over the remaining shares when these partners resigned.
Today the company is represented by around 30 employees in German offices. About the same number is working out of Owners' Polish branch office in Szczecin.
Together they take care of approximately 50 vessels ranging in the size of 2500 up-to 9000 Dwat.
This fleet is served by around 400 seafarers. Whilst about 20 pct of the fleet is employed under time-charter contracts in worldwide trade the remaining part, being mainly bulk carriers, are serving demands within European ports.
Beside EMS chartering Leer/Germany and AtoBatC Ystad/Sweden the chartering matters are mainly being followed up by the recently formed broker R.E.S. Chartering GmbH in Hamburg, headed by Mike Strahlmann the founder's son. Besides of the exclusive vessels from Reederei Erwin Strahlmann the team also take care about competitve chartering purposes. This office has a 15 persons strong team.
A new building program was started in 2003 for the renewal of the fleet. Since then more than 20 new buildings have joined the permanently growing fleet, bringing the company closer to their target of a 100 vessels strong fleet.
Caused by the increasing fleet and the subsequent required additional work force we decided in 2008 to built new modern office premises in Brunsbüttel at the banks of the Kiel Canal. Thus since March 2011 the company's different German departments could be placed under one roof.
The technical department is managed by Holger Strahlmann, the founder's brother, in cooperation with Chief Engineer Andrzej Subozc in Szczecin, where the main technical works are executed. Owners have there beside their office staff always about 80 technicians and electricians employed, taking care of whatever repairs are required, working out of a rented dock-space as well as having mobile repairs teams being able to assist Owners' vessels by boarding them in any European load- or discharge-ports within short.
In September 2008 we started to support 20 students each year visiting the Maritime Academy, Szczecin for the technical and nautical course by providing them the opportunity
to join our vessels or their practical education.
